Welcome to a unique experience in the heart of Provence, a good hour from Nice, St. Tropez, Marseille and the Mediterranean. From Aix en Provence, Avignon and Gorges du Verdon there are only three quarters drive.

This exclusive and secluded property is located in the heart of Cotignac, of many named the nicest village in Provence. Here you will be able to experience authentic Provence with good food and wine, bathing and cycling (there are 10 delicious bikes ready for you) in the peaceful and fertile hinterland. From here there is a short distance to a vibrant jetset life and lots of shopping along the Cote d'Azur. If you want some quieter days, just relax by the pool or enjoy yourself in the large, charming garden, which you would not think could hidden in the middle of the village.

Just go out through the gate, walk 50 meters down the road and you are in the village. with all its shops, galleries etc.

The house is on a total of 750 m2, was built in 1790, but fully renovated in 2006/2007. Floors and ceilings are kept as they originally looked. There are 10 bathrooms and seven bedrooms available. The house has four suites spread over the 2nd and 3rd floors. Two of the suites have three bedrooms and two bathrooms, while the other two have two bedrooms and one bathroom. In addition, there is a self-catering apartment on the 4th floor with three bedrooms, bathroom and kitchen. The master bedroom in each suite is very spacious and nicely furnished, including with sitting groups. There is TV with international channels in all suites and of course WIFI.

It is a surprise that a house in the middle of the city can have so much and contentious a garden that is so secluded in the city. It is an experience to discover the exciting garden with the many Mediterranean flowers and plants, and for those who want to enjoy a while for themselves, there are plenty of places in the sun and shade.

The house has a total of 10 bedrooms, so it is suitable for many different types of groups. The big family, a group of friends with or without children, or maybe a company seminar? The possibilities are many. The suites are large, especially the Masterbedrooms, each of which has a seating group, where many can be gathered.



There are four suites in the house (on the 2nd and 3rd floors). Two large suites each with Masterbedroom, two smaller bedrooms and two bathrooms. Two smaller suites are with Masterbedroom, one smaller bedroom and one bathroom for each suite.

In addition to this, an independent apartment.

Bathrooms and toilets

There are seven bathrooms and two separate toilets in the house. All are modern and beautifully decorated with cream colored marble and design from Phillip Stark. Two of the bathrooms have a bathtub. There is also a toilet and both hot and cold showers adjacent to the swimming pool.

The apartment

At the top of the house on the 4th floor is a completely independent apartment consisting of three bedrooms (six beds), a bathroom and a livingroom with open kitchen, all is fully equipped for six people. Here is the possibility that someone in the company can live their own life if desired.

Activity/conference room

On the 4th floor there is also a large combined conference / media / playroom. Both the billiards and table tennis tables are easily converted into conference tables. The room is also equipped with projector, widescreen TV, Playstation, DVD, tablefootball, darts and modern surrounds. There is also a toilet and a fridge.

Outdoor kitchen

On a small hill above the pool there is a small stone house with a cozy outdoor kitchen with a covered dining area for 24 people. In the old stone house there is a rustic bar and modern kitchen facilities, but a large Weber gas grill with hobs outside allows for cooking both inside and out.


The garden

The garden is large, or more correct: it is huge. Ca. 2,600 m2 with grape plants, olive trees, fruit trees, old rose bushes and Provencal vegetation like lavender and some herbs. The garden is set in different levels with several exciting plateaus. Top plateau with a large terrace overlooking the property and part of the city

The pool

The saltwater pool is also large, 13 x 5 m. Lots of sun loungers are placed around the pool, where there are also various shaded areas. Of course there is also toilet and bath facilities near the pool. From the beginning of April to the end of October, a heat pump provides warm water for the pool.


A large chestnut tree has given the house its name, Maison Marronié, The chestnut House. The house dates back to 1790 and like many other of the larger properties, was a silky farm. The current owners of the house have used the past eight years to bring the house to its high standard so that it can now be rented to people who demand high quality, authenticity, peace and tranquility and appreciate the setting for staying in an attractive area of Provence.

Praktical information

In the upper floor of the house there is air conditioning, on the other floors there is always cool due to the thick stone walls and the closed windows. There is wifi in the house, and of course TV with 10-12 different channels. Washing machine, tumble dryer and American refrigerators (both in the house and in the outdoor kitchen). In addition to the facilities already mentioned, 10 nice mountain bikes (and of course bicycle helmets) are available to guests. The house is rented for one week at a time, and the normal changeover day is Saturday. Outside the high season there may be agreements made for other rental periods and other changeover days. Please note that an agreement has been reached with the neighbors that there must be a maximum of 16 people in the house. There is actually room for more, but as you live in the village, this agreement has been made. This means that there is plenty of space in the house for the group.

A huge and exciting townhouse amidst a beautiful village - it speaks for itself. We have been to Cotignac many times. In particular, we have visited the city in connection with the weekly market on Tuesdays. We have discovered a beautiful, cozy and authentic provencal village with lots of both life and tranquility.

The village has a rich commercial life - even when there is no market - and in addition to bakeries, butchers and other grocery stores, the city also has many galleries. If you are interested in art, Cotignac is a city one must pass by. In short, it's a real French village with all the excellence that can be said about it.

Cotignac is centrally located in Var, and it is not far to all the many attractions the area offers. Lac de St. Croix and Gorges du Verdon are reached in half an hour, and if you want a trip to the coast, for example. St. Maxime, you arrive within a good hour.

We fell for the house - and very much for the location. Houses that can accommodate many people are found here and there  - but there are not many that are located as centrally as this house in Cotignac.
